Artist Natural History
A new ToDryFor tea towel design in our Natural History range.
Coral is just plain bonkers. Coral reefs are built by and made up of thousands of tiny animals known as 'polyps'. Most coral polyps have clear bodies whilst their skeletons are white, like human bones. Their brilliant colour comes from the tiny algae (called zooxanthellae) which live inside their tissues and produce pigments. These pigments are visible through the clear body of the polyp and are what gives coral its beautiful colour. As we said, bonkers.
Living Corals is part of a new natural history range with vintage illustrations featuring the wonders of our natural world. Prepare to do your best David Attenborough impression whilst washing up. 'Here we are at the heart of the family home to observe the drying of dishes, a daily ritual of homo sapiens; the species to which all modern human beings belong and the only member of the genus Homo that is not extinct. If we can get in close enough we will hopefully be lucky enough to see the male of the species taking part as well.'
